Lunchtime Sketch: The Map Room

The Map Room is a place from which one can observe the entire universe, from galaxies all the way down to a city street on Earth.

The huge hollow chamber is washed in a soft bath of sunset colors, very subtle hues reflecting off the immense back wall of complex golden patterns and swirls. The sides of the chamber are bands of polished and rough hewn slate stone, run through with marbled jade and sapphire.

The viewing sphere is suspended in the midst of the chamber, revolving slowly with a twinkling view of the galaxy. One may walk around either of the viewing walkways that encircle the sphere, and from there turn and tune the sphere to any vision one desires.
